Sample Journal Entry (SOAP)

Scripture

"Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop -- thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times what was sown."

- Mark 4:20

Observation

It is a rare person that has truly crossed the line into acceptance, even among Christians. The world is full of distraction and worry, something Jesus saw even two thousand years ago. To say "society is too complicated today" is to delude yourself; our society will always seek to pull you from God, because it is a human construct, and you are human. But once acceptance has taken place, the world becomes much simpler because those distractions have lost their bite. Like a race car driver bent on crossing the finish line, your concentration will not be broken when you're focused on the goal. The goal is God, and the reward is eternity.

Application

Focus on the goal. Let society wash over you, but don't let it wash you away. As you grow in acceptance, it will become easier; thirty, sixty, a hundred times easier.

Prayer

Father, I am confident in my love for you and in my eventual uniting with you. However, as life tries to pull me down and the world tries to blur my vision, please be my rock and maintain in me the confidence I need to focus on eternity.
